Featuring a wide variety of terrain, Moonlight Basin is a private club and community in southwestern Montana. You’ll find 5,800 acres of skiable terrain, with the summit at 11,100 feet. There’s a variety of luxury living spaces, from private homes and mountain cottages to contemporary studios and large penthouses. In the heart of Moonlight Basin, residences at Deep Forest have ski-in and ski-out access. Lakelodge is just steps away from the lake and offers easy access to numerous club amenities, including the pool and fitness center. Although it merged with Big Sky Resort in 2013, the Moonlight Lodge is still specifically reserved for those staying at Moonlight Basin.
 
Extending from Lone Peak down to the Madison River Valley, Moonlight Basin is surrounded by some of the most magnificent mountain views in the country. As part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, it also serves as a vital habitat and migration route for wildlife. It’s one of the most beautiful places to explore, and the adventures are endless.

Local Lifestyle

Moonlight Basin is a small community with many part-time residences. There is a member services team that can help with dinner reservations, transportation, activities, and even skiing lessons. Families and friends usually gather at the members-only Moonlight Lodge or the private Reserve Golf Course and Clubhouse.
 

Dining, Entertainment, & Shopping

Residents can dine and drink at Moonlight Basin without leaving the slopes. Slopeside at the Madison Base, Headwaters Grill offers quick and healthy grilled plates plus soups, salads, and snacks. The Reserve Clubhouse is available to members and their guests and serves lunch and dinner paired with Montana craft beers, hand-selected wines, and signature cocktails. On Sundays, they host an exclusive Supper Club.
 
Residents also have easy access to all the amenities at Mountain Village and Big Sky Resort. The Huntley Dining Room is a popular breakfast spot with a hearty buffet. Peaks Restaurant is a rustic-style chophouse at the Summit Hotel. They have a selection of aged and Wagyu beef entrees that can be paired with a bottle from their award-winning wine list.
 
For après-ski drinks or late-night get-togethers, Westward Social has signature cocktails and craft beers to go along with charcuterie boards and shareable plates. Montana Jack serves drinks and inventive burgers in an antique bar with elevated ceilings for a mix of mountain and sophisticated ambiance. 
 
There are two Hungry Moose Market and Deli nearby, one right on the mountain and one in downtown Big Sky. They have groceries you can shop for in-store, online, or pick-up. They have a unique selection of wine plus local craft beers. And you can get an assortment of ready-made foods and sandwiches from their in-store bakery and deli.
 
For sports gear and apparel, Big Sky Sports carries a full line of mountain equipment and accessories. Their professional boot fitters offer a complete evaluation and full customization to ensure the perfect fit and performance.
 

Things to Do

Moonlight Basin skiing features beginner runs, open bowls, tree skiing, moguls, and long groomers. In addition, winter activities include dogsledding, ice skating, snowshoeing, and fat biking. In the summer, there are endless trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. 
 
Ulerys Lakes has campsites, a fire pit, a tree fort, and an onsite cafe. It’s also an excellent place for trout fishing and canoeing. The nearby Gallatin River offers whitewater rafting and fly fishing.

For golf enthusiasts, The Reserve is an 8,000-yard, 18-hole golf course. The Jack Nicklaus-designed course sits at an impressive 7,500-foot elevation with several hundred feet of elevation changes throughout, giving you stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
